Adopt-a-Roadway Program
Stuart Lake Association members participate in the association's annual spring and fall highway clean up. The group meets on 18-1/2 Mile Road and clears brush, deadwood and litter to help maintain the beauty of the roadside entrance to Stuart Lake.
The Calhoun County Adopt a Roadway program is modeled after the Adopt a Highway program offered by the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT). This program is intended to clean up the roadsides within Calhoun County. With groups taking pride in cleaning stretches of roadway that are significant to them, it is intended to deter other people from illegally dumping trash. Keeping our roadsides clean is one way to avoid possible adverse effects on public health and the environment in Calhoun County.
The Stuart Lake Association's cleanups take place in April and October of each year. We meet at the Brooks Nature Area entrance at 9:00 a.m. Click on photo for larger view. -- Photos by Diane Graves
